Amanda Knox Taken Aback By Court Decision

The ruling of the Supreme Court of Italy shocked Amanda Knox, after it indicated that she should go through a retrial for the murder of Meredith Kercher in 2007.

Before she was acquitted, Knox already was already in prison for four years and she was hopeful that the ruling will be upheld by the court. However, her ordeal will continue following the recent ruling of the Supreme Court. Raffaele Sollecito, her former boyfriend, was also convicted for the crime.

The court did not leave out her slander conviction after she identified her employer as the killer of Kercher. She indicated that the statement was made under duress. Amanda Knox indicated that the decision was unfair, unfounded and painful.

She added that the prosecution should answer for all the discrepancies. She also said that she and her family will face the legal battle with confidence in the truth.

The family of Kercher was happy with the recent ruling to overturn the acquittal.

The lawyer of Knox indicated that the new trial may start next year and Know will not be required to be in Italy for it. If Amanda Knox will face another conviction, an appeal will be made in the Supreme Court. An extradition will also require additional legal procedures, which experts revealed may not succeed.

The court will have ninety days to reveal its reason for overturning the acquittal and upholding the slander conviction of Knox. Dalla Vedova said to the court that an error started the trial and that the prosecution remaining insistent on the errors as they try to convince the Supreme Court on another trial.

The lawyer of the Kercher family, Francesco Maresca, together with the prosecutors indicated that the judges at the appeals court did not analyze the evidence thoroughly. They added that Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito should be tried again for the murder of Kercher.

Maresca indicated that the two are guilty, and they were inside the room with Rudy Guede, the person convicted for the 2007 murder. After she was released from prison in 2011, Knox continued with her life in Seattle and spent time with her family.

Amanda Knox is set to release her memoir on April 30.
