Muslim Brotherhood Senior Leader Links The War In Mali To The Boston Bombing

A Muslim Brotherhood senior leader indicated that the deadly blasts during the Boston Marathon may be linked to the war in Mali, the chaos in Iraq and Syria, and the shaky peace agreement between the PKK separatists and Turkey.

Although Essam el-Erian condemned the twin blasts, he also linked the attack to a number of events that started with the war in Mali against an organization that is supposedly linked to Al-Qaeda. Erian is the vice-chairman of the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood or the Freedom and Justice Party.

Erian also said that the suspicious increase in bombings in Syria that is not consistent with the Syrian revolution may also be linked to the attack through Facebook.

He added that the historic peace agreement between the prime minister of Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party or the PKK was shaky. Erian also asked a question on who got in the way of democratic changes in spite of the complicated transition from corruption, despotism, hatred, intolerance, and poverty to justice, development, tolerance, freedom, social justice, and human dignity.

He further asked who planted Islamophobia through the media and who financed the violence. The twin bombing during the Boston Marathon resulted to the death of three people and wounded 167 others.

The statement of Erian was unlike the official statement released by the organization, which was released in English. It indicated that the organization was categorically rejecting the intolerable bombings committed in Boston.

The political party of the Muslim Brotherhood also sent its condolences and sympathies to the American people as well as the victims’ families.
