Syrian Rebel Filmed While Eating A Soldiers Liver

Khalid al-Hamad is a rebel that is fighting the Bashar al-Assad government in the two year long civil war that has been tearing Syria apart.

Al-Hamad was filmed while cutting and apparently consuming the organs of a deceased Syrian soldier. The images were distributed worldwide and gave a bleak picture of the level of violence and savagery that has engulfed Syria since the start of the civil war.

Contacted via Skype, the Syrian rebel said that he was motivated to act in such a manner by footage he found on the deceased soldier that apparently showed him “humiliating” a woman and her daughters.

He also added that he is in possession of other videos that show him cutting a Syrian police officer or shabiha with a chainsaw.

The soldier, a Sunni Muslim went on to express his hatred for the Alawite sect that president Bashar al-Assad is part of. He said that he is only exacting revenge after the sect “killed our children in Baba Amr and raped our women”.

A number of human rights organizations and even the Syrian opposition group condemned the actions.

The National Coalition, said that it condemned the act and that the soldier would eventually be tried in a fare and free court.

The UN commissioner on human rights also advised the Syrian rebel leaders to control prevent their troops from savage acts that are classified as war crimes.
