Another Robbery At The Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival usually stands out through a number of things. Beautiful scenery, eye-catching sports cars, countless stars that grace the red carpet, and the fabulous jewelry they wear during the time of the festival.
This year the film festival managed to stand out through not one but apparently two robberies. The first involved a whopping $1 million of Chopard jewelry being stolen. The jewelry was intended to be distributed to the stars as they take to the red carpet. They were stolen from a hotel room in the beautiful Novotel Hotel.
Not a week after the movie-like jewel heist it seems that the luggage of a Chinese film executive was stolen from his rented apartment at Pierre & Vacances Residence.
The victim of the theft, Zhang Qiang, apparently had to cancel his appearance alongside Keanu Reeves at a press conference for Reeves’ directorial debut after learning that his luggage was stolen.
The executive posed via Weibo, that the staff at the hotel weren't much help, and that they only offered to change the locks to his room, leaving him to deal with the police complaint on his own.
He said in a very upset tone that security in France is terrible and that the people are arrogant, in what seemed a horrible experience for him at the 2013 edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
