Billy Bob Thornton To Star In FX’s “Fargo”
Billy Bob Thornton has been offered the role of Lorne Malvo in FX’s adaptation of the classic 1996 Coen brothers masterpiece “Fargo”. Thornton would play a manipulative man that influences a local salesman and sets him on a violent road for him and everyone around him.
The series should be 10 episodes long and would be inspired by the 1996 Best Picture nominee “Fargo”. While it will stay true to the original, the series will follow a new plot and crime story with the majority of the main characters being also brand new.
To write and executive produce the series Noah Hawley will be contracted along with the Coen brothers who will also executive produce the series based on one of their most successful movies.
The series will be produced by FX Productions and MGM, and should begin filming in the fall of 2013. It should be finished and ready to air by the spring of 2014 and will be distributed worldwide by MGM.
Earlier this summer FX CEO John Landgraf talked about the stations plan to incorporate limited series in a progressive manner in the years to come. It would start with Billy Bob Thornton and his Fargo in 2014 than progress to two limited series in 2015 and three per year by 2016.
