Usain Bolt Wins 100 Meter Title In Moscow
Despite the heavy downpour, Usain Bolt was able to reclaim his title as the fastest sprinter in the world. The Olympic champion regained the 100m world title as he crossed the finish line in 9.77 seconds, beating Justin Gatlin, who came in second with 9.85 seconds. Bolt passed Gatlin late in the race, leaving the American behind.
Two years ago, the 26-year-old Jamaican sprinter false-started in Daegu prior to the final. However, he was not denied this time in Moscow. Nesta Carter, Bolt’s compatriot, took third place with 9.95 seconds. On the other hand, James Dasaolu of Britain only came in eighth place with 10.21 seconds.
Usain Bolt’s convincing victory show his supremacy as he equaled his eighth fastest career time despite the adverse conditions.
Although Bolt was happy with the win, he said he could have done better. He revealed that his legs felt sore after the semifinals. He added that in Jamaica, people expected him to dominate. Prior to the start of the race, Usain Bolt played around by acting as if he was holding an umbrella.
His reaction time was 0.163 seconds, which was similar to the reaction time of Gatlin. The two athletes were alongside each other before the six-time Olympian overtook the American. Gatlin said that he was happy with his race but he was not able to accomplish his race, which he was able to do in Rome when he beat Bolt.
On the other hand, Dasaolu said that he had nothing left after he clocked 9.97 seconds in the semifinals. He said that after around 60 meters, he was left behind by the pack. He added that he was happy with being free of injuries, which will allow him to finish the season.
After his win, Usain Bolt went into a triumphant lap of honor amid the cheers from the crowd.
