Injury Ends Dustin Keller’s Season

It appears that Dustin Keller will miss the 2013 season after getting injured during the game last Saturday with the Houston Texans.

The tight end of the Miami Dolphins suffered a tear on his ACL, PCL ad MCL along with a dislocated knee. Keller promised to return faster, stronger and better than before. He also thanked the prayers and support he received from his teammates, friends and family.

However, the Miami Dolphins did not release any official statement about the injury. The leg of the player was bent unnaturally after he was tackled by D.J. Swearinger. He was later taken out of the field.

Swearinger revealed that he was compelled to tackle low by the rules in the game today. He added that he would have received a fine if he tackled high. Although Swearinger said it was a smart play, he was sorry for what happened and is praying for a fast recovery for Dustin Keller.

Swearinger also revealed that he should change his style of playing after getting penalties in college. He said that he received a number of penalties during his senior year, which means that he should start to hit low.

The first five seasons of Dustin Keller were spent with the New York Jets before he signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins for $4.25 million. He was hoping to prove that he deserves a contract extension. Although he has seventeen career touchdown receptions, ankle and hamstring injuries forced him off the field for much of the 2012 season.

Last Saturday, he had a fourteen-yard reception.

The Miami Dolphins will suffer a major setback since Keller was set to replace Anthony Fasano and help Ryan Tannehill, a second-year quarterback. The two worked well during the training camp and were able to connect a 22-yard touchdown pass during an exhibition game.

The injury of Keller will result to a competition among Kyle Miller, Michael Egnew and Charles Clay for the tight end position in the roster of the Dolphins with the absence of Dustin Keller.
