Fans Express Disappointment With “50 Shades Of Gray” Cast

With this Monday’s Tweets by the “50 Shades of Gray” author EL James confirming the leading roles of the movie based on her book being given to Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson, fans have expressed their disappointment and even their anger with the choices made and have sent startling numbers of angry tweets to author EL James or producer Dana Brunetti.

Fans even started a petition that proposed Matt Bomer from shows like “White Collar” as Christian Grey and Alexis Bledel from “Gilmore Girls” as Anastasia Steele to replace the current cast of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson.

Producer Carla Brunetti tried to explain the casting process to the armies of angry fans but to no avail. She said in her tweets that the process involves evaluating the actors availability, desire, talent and chemistry with his or her costars.

EL James also responded to fans by thanking everyone, haters and supporters for their passion about her most recent project.

The petition to change the leading actors managed to get quite some support and got the 10,000 votes it was initially aiming for. While a lot of fans were revolted, some were pleased with the choices made and said the two are probable to have great chemistry.

The movies will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and will come out in the summer of 2014.
