Earthquake In Pakistan Result To Death Of 327 People

The recent earthquake in Pakistan resulted to the death of 327 people following the collapse of hundred of houses made of mud, according to local officials.

Hundreds of soldiers were airlifted by the Pakistani army following the worst earthquake since the 2005 earthquake that resulted to the death of 75,000 people. Baluchistan was struck by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake, which was also felt in a number of areas in South Asia. The province is an earthquake-prone area and is made of deserts and mountains.

The earthquake also resulted to the emergence of an island in the Arabian Sea, off the coast of Pakistan.

The Awaran deputy commissioner, Abdul Rasheed Gogazai, revealed that they were able to recover 285 bodies in the district. Awaran, the most affected town, has a population of around 200,000 individuals

Forty-two bodies were also found at the Kech district and the dead were already being buried.

Kamran Zia, National Disaster Management Authority chairman, revealed that the death toll of the earthquake in Pakistan was at 259. The remote location was not easy to reach by rescue teams. The death toll is expected to increase as rescue teams go up the mountain to evaluate the damage. Survivors were starting to dig graves and pick through the debris.

Zia revealed that numerous houses were flattened by the earthquake. He also said the supplies were being distributed by rescue teams. The earthquake in Pakistan came amid mourning after an attack against an Anglican church that resulted to the death of over eight Christians in Peshawar recently. The attack was carried out by suicide bombers.

Numerous residents were mystified by a rare phenomenon near a beach at the Gwadar port. An island emerged following the earthquake.

However, the island is not expected to stay for long since it will eventually succumb to sea waves. The island thrust up by the earthquake in Pakistan is expected to disappear after some time.
