Drake Releases New Album At Numer 1 Spot
Rapper Drake jumped directly to the top position of the Billboard top 200 album chart this Wednesday with his latest release called “Nothing Was the Same”.
The Canadian rapper also managed to get the second largest sales week so far in 2013. His third studio release managed to sell 658,000 copies in its first week, a bigger number than even the most optimistic studio executive ever expected.
The only other album to match Drake’s most recent release was TImberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience” which managed to move nearly one million copies in the first week. This is the third home run for the rapper as all his previous albums debuted at number one of the Billboard 200 chart. Even more so, “Nothing Was the Same” is the biggest selling hip-hop album since 2011’s “Tha Carter IV” from Lil Wayne.
Drake managed to outsell 10 debuting albums this week with the biggest name, Kings of Leon coming in at number two with their new release called “Mechanical Bull” selling 110,000 copies. Other big names that entered the top 10 best seller for this week are Dream Theater at number seven with their new release “Dream Theater” and Krewella with “Get Wet” at number eight.
Drake is expected to have one of the bestselling albums of the year with sales showing no sign of slowing down.
