Amy Robach From Good Morning America Gets Double Mastectomy
ABC’s “Good Morning America” anchor Amy Robach is one of the luckiest unlucky women in the world after being diagnosed with breast cancer live on the October 1st show.
While hesitant, Robach agreed to a televised mammogram after being advised by Robin Peters, co-host and a breast cancer survivor as well to undergo the mammography saying that one life saved because of an early detection is worth all the pain and trouble in the world.
As October also known as Breast Awarness Month was kicking off, the host underwent the standard mammogram in a segment meant to increase awareness about how early detection and prevention could increase one’s chances of survival exponentially.
Unknown to viewers of the popular morning show, Amy Robach was actually diagnosed with cancer and talked about her scheduled double mastectomy this Monday during a “Good Morning America” show.
The 40 year old said that while unlucky because she has cancer, she considers herself a lucky woman because she detected it early and has a very good chance of beating the disease.
Amy Robach added that she never had a mammogram until the age of 40 and while this didn't scare her in the past she can’t help but imagine how many women can be saved with a regular check-up that “hurt much less than” than she thought it will.
