“Frozen” Climbes To Number One At The Box Office

While the first week of December has a reputation of gathering weaker results at the box office some movies managed to impress and climb to the number one spot with some pretty impressive numbers.

“Frozen” the musical animation from Disney earned $31.6 million this weekend, an almost 50 percent drop since its debut weekend, however, enough to bring the animation to the number one spot at the box office, passing “Hunger Games: Catching Fire”.

The Disney animation has managed to earn an impressive $134.3 million in just 12 days since its release, an improvement on the 2010 Disney production “Tangled” who only earned $96.6 million at the same point.

Experts consider that based on its ratings, its positive reviews it should end up making around $280 million, making it one of the most profitable movies from Disney in a while.

The great box office results are also improving the soundtrack’s rating, catapulting it to the upper parts of music charts. It debuted at number 18 on the Billboard Top 200 and in the 12 days since its launch it managed to climb all the way to number 4 on the iTunes chart.

While “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will surely get higher numbers worldwide, “Frozen” has proven to be one of Disney’s most successful movies in the last couple of years.
