Kiss And Nirvana To Join Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Kiss and Nirvana are the biggest and most recent additions to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside giant names like Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadtand, Hall and Oates and Cat Stevens.

Brooklyn’s Barclays Center will be the place where the 29th annual edition of the ceremony will take place. The event will be open to the public just like previous editions in Los Angeles or Cleveland and will be aired in May on HBO.

Joel Peresman, CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame said that the decision to open up the event to the public brought a real energy to the ceremony and gave it an entire new life.

With more than 700 artists, music historians and industry professionals voting, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation will also add an exhibit of the musicians in their Cleveland museum. To be eligible for the induction a full 25 years have to pass since the artist’s first recording.

The 2014 edition marks the second consecutive time when fan voting was a big part of the decision making process. Fans could vote on the Hall of Fame’s official website for their favorite artists. Kiss with 239,000 and Nirvana with 218,000 were the clear victors when it came to fan support while the other inductees received impressive results as well. Kiss and Kat Stevens also received Hall of Fame nominations in 2006 and 2010.
