Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues Earns $13.2 Million So Far
The long awaited sequel to the immensely popular “Anchorman: Legend of Ron Burgundy” has hit theaters this Wednesday. The movie entitled “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” has earned a respectable $5.1 million in ticket sales this Thursday and coupled with the numbers from its premiere has made an impressive $13.2 million. The sum positions the sequel to make anywhere between $40 and $45 million in its first week.
Funny man Will Ferrel steps back into the shoes of legendary news anchor Ron Burgundy. The movie is comparable to another Paramount movie, “Little Fockers” who managed to score a $45 million revenue in its first five days.
The production company is optimist about the new Anchorman movie’s chance to outperform “Little Fockers” especially as the comedy will probably have a longer life span in cinemas.
The first Ron Burgundy centered movie premiered in 2004 and earned a solid $28 million in its first three days. During the same extended weekend period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) Anchorman 2 is expected to earn a similar $30 million, a decent sum but nothing too impressive considering the amount of marketing the Ron Burgundy sequel has received.
The Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues received everything from its own sort of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream to real prime time news coverage by the star character, Ron Burgundy.
