Following the launch of the Amazon Appstore a couple f years ago, it was not able to put up much of a competition against the Google PlayStore. However, it appears that this holiday season has allowed Amazon to progress with an increasing number of people purchasing a new Android device. Consumers can get $5 worth of credit from the online retailer when they download something from the app store. The credit can be used in acquiring games and apps from the app store of the retailer.

A link will be sent by Amazon for the Amazon Appstore client into the Android device of customers, which they can install into their devices. Once customers log into the Appstore, they can download any game or app to become eligible for the promotion. Customers will receive an email with a promotional code for the free $5 credit.

Present users of the Appstore are eligible for the deal, which is linked to the present version of the Appstore Android client. Customers may have to download the latest update from Amazon if they do not have the latest version of the Appstore. It is essential for customers to remember that they have to install an app into their devices. If the app is not installed, customer will not qualify for the promotion.

The $5 credit can be used on all games, apps, or in-app content available through the application marketplace of Amazon. It cannot be used for other items offered through Amazon. It is also limited to one credit for every account.

Although the number of apps on the appstore of Amazon is not as many as in the Google PlayStore, customers may find something that they can acquire using the $5 credit. Although the promotion for the Amazon Appstore will run from December 24 to December 28, the credits are valid until March 2014.
