Hollywood Reacts To Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s Death

Yesterday’s news that Phillip Seymour Hoffman died was a huge shock to just about anyone who has ever seen one of his fantastic movies. The cause of death is yet to be clearly specified but it is believed that he died from a drug overdose. Hoffman battled alcohol and drug addiction when he was younger but managed to overcome it. He was sober for nearly three decades when he relapsed in 2012.

Hoffman’s family, friends and fans weren't the only people who were saddened by the news of his death as most of the Hollywood community paid their tribute to the amazing 46-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of writer Truman Capote, a role that won him his first Oscar.

Twitter was set ablaze with messages from some of Hollywood’s biggest actors and comedians. Steve Martin praised his performance as Willy Loman and said that he is shocked by news of his death.

Director Spike Lee, who worked with Hoffman on “25th Hour” sent a blessing to Hoffman’s family via Twitter after stating that the world lost another great actor.

Justin Timberlake also tweeted in regards to Hoffman’s death. He said that the news of the “amazingly gifted” actor’s death was truly devastating.

Alec Baldwin who starred with Phillip Seymour Hoffman in “Along Came Polly” appeared to be left speechless posting a simple link to a news article that reported the actor’s passing.
