Sam Worthington Arrested For Punching Papparazo

Sam Worthington, star of the immensely successful Avatar has been arrested this weekend in New York after he was involved in a fistfight with a photographer. The Australian actor allegedly punched a paparazzo while on an outing with his wife in Greenwich Village.

Worthington was out on a date with his wife when a paparazzo allegedly kicked his significant other. The Australian action star apparently had a fit of rage after his wife,model Lara Bingle was kicked by a photographer that was following the celebrity couple.

According to the local media, the 37-year-old actor was charged with assault and quickly released. He is set to appear in court at a later date that has yet to be released. The photographer was also arrested and charged with reckless endangerment assault and harassment. According to the restaurant manager where the celebrity coupled dined, both Worthington and his wife appeared to show “bloody wounds” that the police supposedly noticed.

News of the altercation comes just one month after Worthington and Bingle tied the knot. The two have been dating since September and in an interview given last October, Worthington said he is “quite smitten” with his lovely girlfriend. The two are rumored to have been introduced by their mutual friend Natalie Imbruglia.
