Josh Brolin Admits He Tried Heroin

Josh Brolin, famous for his recent substance abuse problems, seems to have no problem addressing his past issues even admitting that he tried heroin among other drugs. During an interview with The Guardian, the Hollywood actor talked openly about the problems he faced as a youth up until adulthood, including his short stint into heroin.

Brolin recalled his youth as a punk-rock kid of the 80’s in Santa Barbara. He said that whether they were “rich kids” or poor they all came from broken homes with neglectful parents. He also recalled that he ran with a surf group called Cito Rats.

The actor also talked about getting in and out of trouble, and even robbing cars to pay for drugs. “I tried heroin” was a shocking statement made by the actor, who added that while it may sound ruff he is grateful that he didn’t get addicted or die from it, like a lot of his friends.

Brolin also talked about how his state of mind changed over the years. As a youth he believed that experimenting and “putting yourself out there” was the only way to live, however, experience and age taught him that an imagination can be a safer way to live without “putting yourself in harm’s way.”

Brolin spent the better part of a month in 2013 in a rehab facility in California after getting into a drunken fight in a bar in Santa Monica.
