George R.R. Martin Releases Winds Of Winter Chapter
This week has been a fantastic one for Game of Thrones fans with the show drawing ever closer to its season debut and with author George R.R. Martin releasing a chapter from the sixth book of the seven book series called A Song of Fire and Ice.
The series started back in 1996 with “A Game of Thrones” and has since made Martin, who is 70 years now, one of the best sold authors in history. The popularity of the series has grown exponentially since 2011 when HBO decided to adapt the series, however, the huge popularity also has its backlash.
Martin is practically forced to feed his fans small chapters and spoilers to keep them engaged between new releases. This began in 2009 when fans almost turned on the author for not releasing the fifth volume of the book fast enough. Websites called “Finish the Book George” or “Is Winter Coming?” were set up where diehard fans accused Martin of being lazy and disregarding his fans.
The upset fans called themselves GRRuMblers with the capital letters spelling Martin’s initials. Tensions have grown higher with a possible early death due to the author’s weight and advanced age making fans scared they might get an incomplete series.
