Zac Efron Reveals Fight Against Addiction
When “High School Musical” star Zac Efron entered rehabilitation in 2013, he did not reveal the reason for the treatment. However, the 26-year-old star revealed his fight against drug and alcohol use in a recent interview. He said he was continuously struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
The problem started when the star transitioned from teen star roles in “Hairspray” and “High School Musical” to adult roles in “The Paperboy” and “The Lucky One.”
He said he was burned out after continuously working on movies. He felt a hole that could not be filled up. Zac Efron added that work was the only thing he had and he was deep into his work. He also felt isolated during this point in life but he also saw how he grew because of it.
He said everything was thrown back to him when he was in his twenties in Hollywood. He added he would not want to take anything back since it was necessary for him to learn about everything he did. Therapy was also a part of the experience along with his membership to Alcoholics Anonymous.
He said the experience may have helped him change his life. The actor added that he felt more comfortable now as things became easier for him.
He is hoping that his lifestyle will be better this year as he aims to sleep earlier and workout every day. The actor also said the experience will serve as the guide to his career and allow him to go where he wants to go. The actor produced and starred in “That Awkward Moment.” “Neighbors,” a comedy he starred in together with Seth Rogen is set to be released on May 9.
He added that it is not easy to have a fulfilling and honest life without making any mistakes. Zac Efron said he made numerous mistakes in the past but he learned from the mistakes he made.
