Brooklyn Nets Enter Second Round Of The NBA Playoffs
The block of Paul Pierce on the shot of Kyle Lowry preserved the win of the Brooklyn Nets over the Toronto Raptors as age and experience proved once again to be better than youth and inexperience in the Game 7 of their first round NBA Playoff series.
The Nets dominated the Raptors from the middle part of the third quarter of Game 5 until the team finally finished off Toronto in Game 7 of the series. Brooklyn also went against history as it became the 23rd visiting team to win the seventh game in an NBA Playoff Series in NBA history. Pierce said the team liked its chances and it blossoms in close road games. He added that the team has a number of players who experienced the same situation in the past as they kept their poise until the end of the game.
The veterans of the Brooklyn Nets outworked and outhustled the younger players of the Toronto Raptors. Center Jonas Valanciunas and guard DeMar DeRozan were neutralized. On the other hand, Terrence Ross was struggling in the entire series while Lowry worked too hard.
Joe Johnson had 26 points while Kevin Garnett scored 12 points and grabbed rebounds in the game. The Nets will face the team they were able to beat four times in the regular season, the Miami Heat. The first game of the Conference semifinals will be played in Miami on Tuesday.
Three of the four victories of the Nets in the regular season against Miami were by one point. The team also likes to field a small lineup against the Heat. This comes as Pierce revealed the team will be battle-tested when they go up against Miami.
However, Miami will have the advantage of a long rest after they swept the Charlotte Bobcats in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Although the Brooklyn Nets are the sixth seed in the playoffs, they have a better winning percentage than the heat since January 1.
