Acer Predator 8 Gaming Tablet May Be Launched In September

The Acer Predator 8 gaming tablet is primed for launch as the company reportedly planned an event held in Europe by September. This was revealed by a representative manning the Acer booth during the Computex earlier this week.

The tablet was initially unveiled in April at an event held in New York. During the launch at the World Trade Center, Acer CEO Jason Chen revealed that the details of the device were being finalized. He added that additional details will be released once the device is officially launched.

However, some information on the upcoming tablet has started to emerge during the Computex. The Acer Predator 8 will use the Cherry Trail processor of Intel and will run on an Android OS. The new processor allows its graphics to run faster compared to the older processor, the Bay Trail. The same chip is also being used on the Surface 3 of Microsoft.

The tablet is considered the entry point of Acer into the mobile gaming market. The company is already offering laptops and desktops under the Predator brand, and it is set to launch Predator gaming monitors. Gaming PCs and Chrombooks are the fasting growing segment in the sluggish PC market.

The Acer Predator 8 was displayed on inside a glass case during the Computex. The launch was delayed to September since the company has yet to deal with a number of issues in the device. While tablets appear boring to look at, the red and metal gray color scheme of the device may be appealing to gamers. It also features wing-like curves along the corners where the speakers are positioned.

The Acer Predator 8 may have to deal with the Shield of Nvidia, which considered as the most popular gaming tablet using the Android OS. There is much uncertainty when it comes to the performance of the Android as a gaming platform, and it will have to deal with Windows 10, which features the DirectX 1.2 graphics technology that enhances mobile gaming.
