Natalie Portman wins best actress

Natalie Portman was picked best actress at this year's Golden Globes awards show for her performance in the psychological thriller "Black Swan."

The pregnant actress thanked her fiance Benjamin Millepied who was her choreographer and ballet instructor at the set of the film. His character in the film viewed Portman's character as someone he would not go into bed with. But in her acceptance speech, Portman said, "It's not true. He's the best actor in the movie -- he totally wants to sleep with me."

Portman also thanked her co-stars including Mila Kunis, whom she had a controversial sex scene with in the film. The 29-year-old actress also expressed her gratitude to the movie's director Darren Aronofsky.

"Darren, I met you 10 years ago when we talked about this for the first time," Portman said. "And thank you for continuing to work on this movie and then to give me such a beautiful, beautiful gift with this role."

Other nominees for the best actress award were Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole), Halle Berry (Frankie and Alice), Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine), and Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone).

Colin Firth was best dramatic actor for "The King's Speech" while "The Social Network" was given the best drama award. David Fincher won the award for best director and Aaron Sorkin was best writer, both for "The Social Network."

Christian Bale was adjudged best supporting actor for "The Fighter". Bale's co-star Mark Wahlberg was also nominated for his role as boxing champion Micky Ward.

The hit-TV series "Glee" was also a winner, getting the nod for best musical or comedy series. Robert De Niro was given this year's Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement.
