Angelina Jolie film "Salt" adjudged riskiest

Angelina Jolie, who played the role of CIA agent Evelyn Salt in the action thriller "Salt", may not win accolades for her portrayal but the film has garnered a unique award.

The Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, which ensures four out of five Hollywood films, has adjudged "Salt" as the riskiest film of the year.

In the movie, Angelina Jolie performed most of her own stunts which included a motorcycle ride through traffic while being chased by authorities who think Evelyn Salt is a Russian spy.

"It's kind of cool for somebody to say they're doing their own stunts, but it is risky," said Lauren Bailey, who is VP of entertainment at Fireman's Fund.

Insurers like Fireman's Fund communicate with film makers about stunts. Company representatives often request for some modifications of some of the stunts if they deem them to be especially risky. They are also often present during the filming of dangerous scenes.

"When the artist is going to be involved in their own stunts, it's considered risky for us as the insurance carrier," said Wendy Diaz, Fireman's Fund director of entertainment underwriting. "But it's also somewhat risky for the production company, because they've put the production in a little bit of jeopardy if somebody gets hurt."

Films who have been given the award previously include "Into the Wild" which was helmed by Sean Penn, and "The Wrestler" starring Mickey Rourke.

Unlike Rourke, who was nominated for an Oscar for his role, there will be no such nomination for her role as Evelyn Salt for Angelina Jolie.
