Ralph Fuentes, Stacey Dash Suspended For Using Profanity On The Air
Ralph Fuentes and Stacey Dash were suspended by Fox News recently after they use profanity while criticizing President Barrack Obama. Peters, who is a Fox News strategic analyst, called the president a “pu--" did not want to hurt their enemies while Dash, a contributor for Fox, said President Obama did not give a “sh- - “on his terrorism speech on Sunday night.
Bill Shine, senior executive vice president of Fox, said Peters and Dash made some inappropriate and unacceptable comments in different shows while on the air. He added that the use of such language is not condoned by Fox Business Network as well as Fox News Channel. Due to this, the two Fox News commentators were suspended by the network for two weeks.
Even though Fox regularly criticizes the president, it is rare for commentator to use vulgar language.
A number of Fox fans complained about the suspension through social media, indicating that the network was unduly silencing the two commentators for being honest with what they felt. On the other hand, Stacey Dash said through a tweet that she was accepting the consequences for what she said.
While the profane comment of Stacey Dash was partly bleeped in the Fox News talk show “Outnumbered,” the comments of Peters were not bleeped. He was talking with Stuart Varney, an anchor on Fox Business Network.
Even though Peters was allowed to speak by Varney for more than a minute, Varney told him that he could not use this type of language on the program. Varney reminded Peters again and Peters apologized after he was asked to do so.
Peters said he is apologizing for allowing his anger get over him, but he felt that the American people were aware of where he was coming from with the issue. He added that while his choice of word was wrong, many people share his sentiment.
The use of profanity of Peters was immediately flagged by Media Matters, an organization monitoring Fox. This resulted to widespread attention throughout the internet.
The video was played by “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah on Monday. Noah said this is a moment when he wished Peters “was in the in the same room as the president.” He added he could imagine the president telling Peters that they can take the matter outside. Since Fox Business and Fox News are cable channels, they are not subjected the same regulations controlling profanities broadcasted over public airwaves. No statements were released by the White House on the use of profanity by both Ralph Peters and Stacey Dash.
Consequences. Some of us have to pay them. Gladly.
