Samsung Galaxy S7 May Feature Pressure-Sensitive Screen

It seems the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 may offer a number of innovative features aimed at making it appealing to consumers. One of these features is a pressure-sensitive display screen

A recent report from the Wall Street Journal indicated that the screen of the upcoming smartphone of the South Korean tech giant will respond to the strength of the touch of the user. This was revealed by individuals who were “familiar with the matter.” It will also feature a high-quality camera and a high-speed charging port. Some models of the upcoming smartphone will also come with a retina scanner.

It is essential for the Samsung Galaxy S7 to become appealing to consumers, especially after the lack of interest among consumers for the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge, which failed to increase smartphone sales for the South Korean company. The low-end market of Samsung was affected with the entry of budget-friendly devices from China while the high-end market is currently dominated by the iPhone of Apple. Due to this, it is necessary for the company to provide its next flagship smartphone with innovative and appealing features while keeping the price reasonable. This comes after recent changes in the leadership of the mobile business of the company.

Similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6 range, the Galaxy S7 will have two main variants, the Galaxy S7 with its standard screen display and the Galaxy S7 Edge with a screen display curving along the left and right edges. The Mobile World Congress is expected to be the venue for the official launch of the smartphone, which may enter the US market in the middle of March.

The use of a pressure-sensitive display screen appears to be an attempt of the company in matching the 3D Touch feature found on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus of Apple. The result of tapping the display screen of the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be different from firmly holding down the screen.
