First Trailer For “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” Released
The first trailer for “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” was released by Warner Bros. recently. The prequel to the Harry Potter series of J.K. Rowling stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a magizoologist.
David Yates, the director of the fifth until the last installment of the franchise, was tasked in directing the movie. However, the prequel may have a similar tone as the fourth movie in the series, “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” according to producer David Heyman.
Yates added that Mike Newell, the director of the fourth movie, likened the fourth movie to an Indian musical, but “it’s not that.” It has the romantic comedy feel of the fourth movie or a “fish-out-of water humor,” which is a human and natural character comedy.
Aside from Redmayne, Colin Farrell and Katherine Waterson are also in the cast of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” which is based on a fictional textbook pseudonymously published in 2001 by J.K. Rowling in order to raise funds for Comic Relief.
Redmayne plays the role of the author of the book. The movie is set in New York around seven decades before the events shown on the Harry Potter series. A mysterious tweet by Rowling in October 2014 confirmed the opening location of the movie. The tweet was actually an anagram, which shows the synopsis of the story of Newt, according to Rowling. The message indicates that Scamandar was supposed to stay for a few hours in New York.
Initial production photos give an indication of a possible romance brewing between Scamander and Propertina “Tina” Goldstein, the character played by Waterson. One of the pictures shows Waterson holding the arm of Redmayne as they cross a street.
Yates and Rowling worked on the script of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” together with David Kloves, screenwriter for nearly all Harry Potter movies. The only movie Kloves did not a screenplay for was “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” Yates said Kloves is always aiming for human moments and it is never an ordinary gag. He added that Kloves uses reality as his basis. Yates also said “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” has a big heart and is funny.
Cry, foe! Run amok! Fa awry! My wand won’t tolerate this nonsense.
