Kate Middleton's parents launch royal-themed scratch cards

Kate Middleton is hogging the headlines lately because of her impending royal wedding to Prince William. It seems like her family is cashing in with her rising popularity with a slew of consumer products being offered by the family business.

Family-run website and mail-order business Party Pieces just launched a Britannia scratch card product for a trivia game.

"Scratch away one crown to reveal the correct answer and impress your guests with your British knowledge," the website said. Every card has three questions that range from British history to culture and celebrities. It retails for 3.99 pounds for a pack containing ten cards.

The Britannia Scratch Trivia card is the latest product from the family of Kate Middleton that seems to take advantage of the royal wedding on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey.

Some have criticized Michael and Carole Middleton of using their daughter's wedding to rake in profits for their business. Besides the scratch cards, street party paraphernalia are also being sold by the family business.

Party Pieces offers party paraphernalia for use in children and adult parties. Its "Best of British" range of products feature the Union Jack flag on items such as hats and plates.

Kate Middleton's mother started Party Pieces in 1987 and runs the business with her husband. Their daughter was a web designer and photographer for the business until December. Another daughter Pippa runs Party Times, a complementary online magazine for Party Pieces.

Buckingham Palace announced yesterday that Welsh Guards will perform along The Mall after the wedding ceremony of Prince Williams and Kate Middleton.
