Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley: boring as hell

Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley

Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley did not live up to the hype

Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley was hyped to be a pure slugfest between two pound-for-pound champions, with one reigning at the top taking on the other fighter - a faded, but still dangerous and proud warrior.

Alas, the Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight was far from a real showdown. It was boring as hell. Manny Pacquiao certainly tried to do his thing inside the ring, attacking early and looking for the opening. Mosley on the other hand was backing away - all night - and that was all what the excited audience got for the fight.

They got to watch Mosley being chased around the ring by Pacquiao all night. Except for a quick left-right hand combination by Manny Pacquiao that floored Shane Mosley for just the third time in his career, it was largely a ho-hum affair.

So at the end of the Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight, it was no surprise that Pacquiao retained his welterweight title via a unanimous decision. The Filipino won every round of all the scorecards 120-108, 120-107 and 119-108.

Maybe because the third round hit by Pacquiao was so jarring, Mosley refused to engage him in later rounds. The Las Vegas crowd who paid big bucks for the Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight certainly made note of it and was booing the former champion late in the fight.

"I fought the best fighter in the world," said Mosley, explaining his poor performance. "He has exceptional power, power that I've never been hit like this before."

Pacquiao blamed leg cramps for his failure to finish the fight with a knockout and Mosley survived the fight by running around until the final bell sounded.

Much to the dismay of boxing fans, the much-ballyhooed Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight turned out to be much less exciting than promised.
