Acer Switch One 10 and V 10 Aimed At Budget-Conscious Market
A pair of inexpensive convertible notebooks was unveiled by Acer running on Windows 10 prior to the Computex in Taipei. The new notebooks offer the keyboard and touch-friendly Continuum feature and are aimed at the low-end market. The Acer Switch One 10 and V 10 are designed mainly for students and budget-conscious consumers as they are priced close to the Chromebooks. The company is aiming to get a significant share of the budget-friendly convertible notebook market.
The Switch notebooks of Acer use Windows 10 and the Continuum feature facilitating seamless switching from the traditional mouse and keyboard interface to touch control unlike the Chromebooks, which run on the Chrome OS. The feature of the Switch notebooks is handy for devices that can be converted from a traditional laptop into a touch-enabled tablet. The removable keyboard on the devices facilitates the conversion and both devices feature the “tent” mode for users who may require a kickstand for their devices.
The Acer Switch V 10 will enter the market in the third quarter of the year with a price tag starting at $249. The V 10 is the bigger model of the two and users have the option to get other features for an additional fee. The One 10 is set to enter the US market by July and is priced at $199.
The two devices come with a 10-inch touchscreen display screen, quad-core Atom processors from Intel, Windows 10 with the Continuum feature, and removable keyboard featuring a magnetic hinge design. The two devices are available in 32 GB and 64 GB models.
The Acer Switch V 10 will come with additional features, including a USB Type-C port designed for data transfer, video output and charging. It also comes with a fingerprint reader and Corning Gorilla Glass screen. An optional keyboard dock featuring 500GB of storage as well as a pair of USB Type-A ports are also available.
The specific details of the Acer Switch One 10 and V 10 for other regions have yet to be released by the Taiwanese company.
