Adrian Peterson Impresses But Christian Ponder Steals The Show
With Adrian Peterson in fantastic form, he surely put his name on the ballot of Most Valuable Player by almost single handedly putting the Minnesota Vikings in the playoffs, during which he almost broke one of the NFL’s longest records.
Despite all this, the true star of the night was quarterback Christian Ponder, who truly became a better player, becoming what people like to call a big-play passer.
Christian Ponder, who has recently celebrated two weeks of marriage to ESPN’s Samantha Steele, played a fantastic game and brought home the victory over the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.
With a perfect throw to Jarius Wright for a 65-yard score, just moments after the Packers managed to tie the score at 26, and a scrambling 3-yard toss to wide receiver Michael Jenkins who managed to make the touchdown, Christian Ponder achieved a career-best 120.2 QB rating, with three touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Possibly the most important play Ponder managed to pull off was the 25-yard pass he hit to Jenkins, as the team could not rely on Peterson to pull them through.
“For me, one thing that has stuck in my mind through this whole season was something that Michael Jordan always said. When it came down to the last minutes of the game, when the pressure was on, someone asked him what he did differently. He said: ‘I stay the same. It's everyone else that changed.’” Christian Ponder said in a post-game interview.
