Allison Sweeney Quits “Days Of Our Lives”
Actress Allison Sweeney has retired from her role as Sami Brady from the popular show “Days of Our Lives”. She said that she will not be reprising her role after playing it for 21 years at the end of this season.
She made the announcement this Tuesday during “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”. She said that she started acting in the NBC soap-opera when she was 16-years-old and during all of the following years she didn't have more than a two-week vacation.
The actress also added that the show is “awesome” and that she still loves everything about it but that this season will have to be her last. Sweeney said that she would like to have a bigger presence in her children’s lives, as her daughter is turning 5 and her son 9 years of age.
Sweeney said she can’t offer any kind of spoiler in regards to her character as she doesn't yet know how it will be written out. While she hopes for a happy ending, her character more likely deserves a “twisted, ‘Breaking Bad’ ending.”
Sweeney has been very busy in the last decade. She started work on the soap-opera in 1993 and has also hosted NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” since 2007. She has also been very happy to do both shows for the last 7 years, however, she would love to spend more time with her children and her husband. Allison Sweeney also added that she would like more time to write, especially as her second book is coming out in 2014, and pursue her directing passion.
