Amanda Bynes Hospitalized To Psychiatric Ward

Amanda Bynes was detained by police officers this Monday and was committed to a psychiatric ward after the actress started a small fire in a random household driveway in Thousand Oaks, California.

After police officers at the scene talked to Barnes, they determined that she needs to be placed under 5150 hold. Police and certain social workers have the authority to place someone under the 5150 hold if they represent a danger to themselves or may cause harm to others.

Country Captain Don Aguilar said that when confronted with a situation where someone is behaving unusually in front of an officer that is trained to evaluate someone psychologically, police officers have the authority to detain and bring that certain someone to a mental health facility to be examined for up to 72 hours.

Police officers at the scene said that the 27 year old Bynes had a red gasoline can in her hand, the same one that she used to set fire to the driveway.

While at first it wasn't clear why the actress was in the Thousand Oaks community, it was later revealed that Bynes actually grew up there.

Amanda Bynes is due to appear in front of a court on the 26th of August for a separate incident in which she is accused of throwing a marijuana filled bong out of her 36th story apartment window.
