“Can’t Buy Me Love” star Amanda Peterson passed away recently, according to her mother Sylvia Peterson. Amanda is best known for playing Cindy Mancini in the 1987 movie opposite Patrick Dempsey.
Sylvia said Amanda passed away on Friday morning. While the actress had a number of issues with her heart, the cause of death is still unknown, Sylvia said. She added that Amanda was a loveable person and her passing was a big loss. The family is still waiting for the results of the autopsy to find out the official cause of the death of the 43-year-old actress.
Before she passed away, Amanda was married, and was living in the place where she grew up in Greeley, Colorado. She started her movie career in the feature film “Annie” in 1982 when she was still nine years old. The movie was under the direction of John Huston.
Amanda Peterson also played a number of roles on “Doogie Howser,” “Father Murphy,” and “Silver Spoons.” She also starred on the 1985 movie “Explorers” with Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix. Patrick Dempsey played the role of the outcast, who eventually hooked up with the character played by Amanda.
The role earned the actress a Young Artist award nomination, but she did not win the award. Later on in the same year, the actress won the Young Artist award for the role she played on “A Year in the Life,” a TV drama. The last film Amanda Peterson was credited for was the 1994 movie “Windrunner.”
