“American Idol” Host Ryan Seacrest Worth $15 Million?
Despite rumors that Ryan Seacrest would leave "American Idol" after Season 11, he has officially signed up for two more years on the show. The host will continue to receive his annual salary for the past three years, a cool $15 million, which is the same salary Jennifer Lopez earns, despite "Idol's" recent 30 percent drop in ratings among viewers ages 18-49.
"For the last 11 seasons, I've had the privilege to be a part of one of television's most iconic shows. It's been a wild ride, and I'm excited for my journey with 'American Idol' to continue," Ryan said in a statement Monday.
Ryan has proved that live television hosting is not as easy as it looks. One example is that, when the judges interrupted Casey Abrams' performance midway through to excitedly announce that they were in fact going to use the Judges' Save on him, a shocked Casey suffered a major meltdown onstage, cursing and practically vomited, the host had carried him back to the stage proving that he does a job more than just being a host.
Seacrest practically doesn't need his "Idol" income considering his other lucrative reality ventures namely E!'s "Kardashian" franchise, and Bravo's "Shahs Of Sunset" among others.
"American Idol" has been through many major changes during the past couple years, and Seacrest has been on the show since Season 1. So yes, $15 million sure is a lot of money, but keeping "Idol" on the track is a priceless piece of work.
