American Tourist Gang Raped In Brazil
An American woman was gang raped and viciously assaulted while her boyfriend, a French citizen was badly beaten, hit with a crow bar and made to witness the terrible act. The horrific incident happened in a public transport bus they boarded in the Copacabana neighborhood, said Rio de Janeiro police.
Two men aged 20 and 22 were arrested shortly after the incident with a third, aged 21 being arrested at a later time.
A Brazilian woman who was also on the van said that she was also attacked and raped by the three men on the 23rd of March.
Local police officers said the victims provided detailed descriptions of the act, shocking even some experienced police personnel with the brutality of the aggression.
Brazil has made huge progress with a lot of its security problems, particularly the drug violence as it prepares to host the 2014 Soccer World Cup, the 2016 Summer Olympic Games and the World Youth Day, a Catholic pilgrimage that will be attended by pope Francis, and that will gather nearly 2 million people together at one time.
The private vans are said to be linked to organized crime that runs large parts of the city. The attackers escorted people off the bus and drove the remainder to a poorer neighborhood of Sao Paolo where they gang raped the tourist and beat her boyfriend.
