Amy Winehouse’s “dead album” to be released in December
London — A new album of the late Amy Winehouse, soul singer, is scheduled to be released in December as announced by Island Records Monday. The new album is entitled “Lioness: Hidden Treasures". The album features 12 songs which includes brand new songs, alternative versions of her existing hits and some unreleased new tracks. The young singer, Amy Winehouse, had died last July 23 at her home in London.
Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, the singer’s longtime musical partners, had spent many hours since Winehouse’s death to listen to all the recordings of the deceased singer. Winehouse is the kind of singer that never sang or even played one song the same way again twice. Ronson and Remi believed a collection of Winehouse’s songs deserved to be released to the public as a fitting testament to Winehouse as an artist and also as a dear friend.
The album will be released on December 5 and will be the third album of Winehouse after Frank and Back to Back. Before the album was finalized, Ronson and Remi had to collaborate with the Winehouse family, the management and the label. The final studio recording of Amy Winehouse will be included in the newest album.
