Amy Winehouse concert dubbed a “disaster” — tour cancelled
Amy Winehouse was reportedly erratic during her performance onstage in Belgrade, Serbia and was booed by the crowd. The British singer arrived late at the venue, forgot her lyrics and disappeared altogether at times during the mistake-filled performance.
There was a YouTube video of her staggering on stage and looking clueless while trying to sing and frequently looking behind the band to cover up her miscues.
Amy Winehouse has had well- documented struggles with drug and alcohol abuse over the years and Sunday's weird concert in Belgrade may be a sign that the singer had hit another low point.
Subsequently, concert promoter Outside Organization announced that Amy Winehouse would not be able to appear in at least the next two legs of her European Tour, which is scheduled in Istanbul and Athens this week.
It is likely that the whole tour will be scrapped but the singer's representatives are reportedly trying to save the 12-date tour. In a statement, the Amy Winehouse apologized to fans for cancelling the subsequent concerts but "feels that this is the right thing to do."
"Despite feeling sure that she wanted to fulfill these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home," the statement said.
Many fans walked out from the huge disappointment at Belgrade's Kalemegdan Park after paying expensive concert tickets up to $57 dollars apiece. The concert was later described as a "disaster" and "the worst in the history of Belgrade."
Amy Winehouse just got out of a rehabilitation center in London, the latest in long series of stints at those facilities to treat her addiction.
