Android-Powered Nikon Coolpix S810c To Enter Market By May

The Android OS is returning to the Nikon Coolpix series as the latest Nikon Coolpix S810c will feature the Jelly Bean Android 4.2.2 OS. Although the OS is not the Jelly Bean Android 4.3 or the KitKat Android OS, it is not far off from the Android OS currently being used by smartphones in the market.

This will be the second tome Nikon will offer an Android-powered camera into the market. The camera manufacturer released the S800c in September 2012, which used the Gingerbread Android 2.3.3 OS. However, during this time smartphones were already using the Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 OS.

Aside from Nikon, Samsung is the only other camera manufacturer that is offering Android-powered cameras into the market.

The main advantage of using the Android OS on the camera is the availability of applications. It will allow users to shoot with numerous camera applications in addition to the camera application of Nikon. Users can also edit images using tools available through the OS. The images can also be shared through any website straight from the camera itself.

The integrated Wi-Fi of the camera can also be sued in uploading images into a cloud service, email images to family and friends or send images straight into an iOS or Android device and upload the images through these devices. The stereo headphone jack of the Nikon Coolpix S810c will also allow users to use the device as a media player.

Even as the Nikon Coolpix S810c has a similar design as the Nikon Coolpix S6800, the new Coolpix camera features a 3.7-inch touch screen LCD. The camera also features a 16MP BSI CMOS sensor along with a 12x f3.3 to 6.3 25mm to 300mm lens. Users can also geo-tag images using its integrated GPS feature.

The Nikon Coolpix S810c is expected to enter the market by May and will have a price tag of around $350.
