Angeline Jolie Meets Pope Francis After “Unbroken” Screening
Angelina Jolie is no stranger when it comes to meeting some of the world’s most important celebrities, politicians and philanthropists; however, even the Award winning actress might find meeting the Pope an noteworthy occasion.
The two met after a screening of Jolie’s movie, “Unbroken” was played in the Vatican City. The star was out of her usual role as actor and actually directed the movie based on the true events of Louis Zamperini. Zamperini’s story, which will take him from an Olympian to a World War II detainee and later hero, will no doubt impress audiences.
According to press representatives, Pope Francis missed the screening of the film which was also attended by numerous Catholic church leaders and even Zamperini’s son, Luke. The Pontiff did meet Jolie later at the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace. Sadly for Jolie, her equally famous husband Brad Pitt could not attend the screening and was not present for the meeting either.
Jolie declared that it was a huge honor to be invited to screen “Unbroken” at the Vatican. She also added that the screening is a tribute to Louis Zamperini’s legacy as a man of faith and a “someone who exemplified the power of forgiveness and the strength of the human spirit.”
The high-level meeting came just two weeks after Jolie met with another important world figure in the person of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth I who named Jolie an honorary dame.
