Anglesey is a quiet island-county in the northwest of Wales that has retained its pastoral feel and way of life. Its rocky coasts and secluded beaches blend well with the herds of sheep and slow-paced life in this quiet corner of Wales.

But that may change quite a bit following the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Now officially, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the couple will make Anglesey their home at least for the first years of their married life.

Prince William works as a search and rescue helicopter pilot at the Royal Air Force facility located in Anglesey. The couple will reportedly live in a farmhouse not far from the RAF Valley military base.

The scenic vistas of Anglesey has attracted many tourists to the island which is connected to the mainland by the Britannia Bridge and the much older Menai Bridge.

Holyhead, the main town, is the center of activity and the tourism business. Retailer Tesco has an outlet here where Kate Middleton has been spotted on occasion before her wedding.

She and Prince William have been seen together in local pubs and restaurants, particularly the famed White Eagle pub in Rhoscolyn on the northwestern end of Anglesey.

The link between the island and the monarch started in 1295 when King Edward I made Beaumaris Castle. Aside from medieval castles, visitors can see several prehistoric ruins and buildings dating back to the Roman empire.

Tourists can enjoy biking, hiking, kite-surfing, bird-watching and sightseeing on the island of Anglesey in Wales, now made even more famous for being home to Prince William and Kate Middleton.
