Anglesey, Wales welcomes home adopted son Prince William

Royal Couple Returns to Anglesey

Anglesey, Wales -- that quaint and picturesque island off the northwest coast, is suddenly thrust into the limelight as the home of royal newlyweds Prince William and Kate Middleton.

But it is not so much as Anglesey being transformed by the presence of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as much as the couple easing back into their refuge in the island -- a rented farm home instead of a grand palace.

Prince William and Kate Middleton will return to the island on Monday with William resuming his duties as a search and rescue helicopter pilot at RAF Valley.

A spokesman for the Defense Ministry said that even though Monday was a public holiday, no special activities are to be held in connection to the royal nuptial even in Anglesey.

Aside from a weekend break to a secret getaway, the couple is said to be postponing their honeymoon to an unspecified date and instead will head home to Anglesey in Wales.

They are also scheduled to visit Canada, part of the British Commonwealth, on June 30 until July 8 in what will be the first official visit for the royal couple.

There has been some speculation that the honeymoon was purposely delayed because of austerity measures on the part of the government and the royal family amid rough economic times in Britain. It is said that William and Kate had themselves earlier chosen to head straight back to Anglesey after their wedding.

Meanwhile, well-wishers in London are having a royal wedding hangover. There are still long lines of people waiting to catch a glimpse inside Westminster Abbey before its wedding decorations are to be taken down in a few days. In contrast, Prince William and Kate Middleton seems content to get back to a "normal" life in Anglesey in Wales.
