Arrest Of Muslim Brotherhood General Guide Praised By Egyptian Media

The arrest of Mohammed Badie of the Muslim Brotherhood was welcomed by Egyptian TV presenters. The development was considered as joyful news with one expert indicating that the Islamist group was given a heavy blow by the arrest.

However, supporter of the group remained obstinate even as one supporter tweeted that all of them were general guides of the group. Egyptians were praised by the security correspondent of Channel One due to the development. An image showed the general guide of the group inside a police vehicle. Viewers were also praised by ON TV and urged authorities to arrest other senior officials of the group.

The report was also aired on CBC TV and Ahrar 25 TV, which have a pro-Muslim Brotherhood stance.

Mahmud Mohi al-Din, a political researcher, expected the other members of the group to be arrested as well. He added that Mahmoud Ezzat may also be arrested. The group named Mahmoud Ezzat as the caretaker general guide.

An exclusive video was broadcast by ON TV that showed a calm Mohammed Badie after he was arrested. The presenter indicated that the terrorism leaders were falling, and they were planning terrorism in the country.

One New Morning presenter on Nile News TV indicated that the news were as dark as what they were wearing during the show. Another presenter said that the arrest of Mohammed Badie was the only happy news.

Cairo University professor Ahmad Ghubashi was interviewed on “Good Morning Egypt.” He did not believe that the Muslim Brotherhood was nearing its end due to the arrest. However, he indicated that implementing justice may require banning the group in Egypt.

An image of the identity card of Mohammed Badie was uploaded by the Ishkuri ya Insharah Facebook page. Tamarod welcomed the arrest of the general guide of the Muslim Brotherhood through its Facebook page.

Buthayna Kamil, a media figure and activist, tweeted the arrest of prominent figures should serve as a lesson to all officials and that the people of Egypt will have no mercy. However, "Heroes of Raabiya", a supporter of the group tweeted that they were all reverend guides.

Ahmad Arif, the spokesman of the Muslim Brotherhood, indicated that he continues to support Mohammed Badie through a Facebook post.
