“Avengers: Age of Ultron” Trailer Breaks Studio Records
The plan of Marvel to officially unveil its first teaser trailer for “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was upstaged with the release of a leaked footage. Despite this, the movie was still able to break the records of the studio for trailer views.
Disney revealed that 34.3 million global views were logged for the upcoming movie within 24 hours. The leaked footage may have helped the final version of the trailer, which was released by Marvel since the company wanted fans to see it the way it was supposed to be viewed.
Marvel suspects that the leaked footage may have been the work of someone in the international market. The studio sent the trailer to be translated before its scheduled debut on Tuesday. The studio initially planned to broadcast the trailer on Tuesday during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC.
Around 26.2 million of the viewers of the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” trailer clicked on the YouTube account of Marvel. The number broke the record for trailers of previous superhero movies. Prior to the release of the latest Avengers trailer, “Iron Man 3” held the record. It earned 23.14 million views within 24 hours.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” had 23.5 million views in its first day while the teaser for the original Avengers movie had 20.4 million views.
Although the “Avengers” is the current attraction of Marvel, other lesser-known titles were able to garner a good number of viewers as well. One of these movies was the “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which earned 22.8 million views within 24 hours after it was launched on “The Jimmy Kimmel Show” on ABC last February. The movie ultimately became the highest grossing movie in the domestic market in 2014. It also earned $739 million in the international market.
While industry watchers are not surprised with the popularity of “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” its scale was notable, which hints at the possibility that it will break more records once it is released.
