Bed Bug Pesticides Makes More People ill

Atlanta - Bed bugs don’t make people sick but a recent study has been released concluding that many people are becoming ill due to the chemicals and pesticides used to kill them. The Centers for Disease and Prevention released the report Thursday.

From the years 2003 up to 2010, 111 were reported to have become ill due to bed bug pesticides while 1 was killed, the agency reported. The study released by the agency has been the first of its kind in the whole United States. From the study released, three-fourths of the total 111 cases occurred between the years 2008 up to 2010 when the population of bed bugs in the country increased.

Illnesses due to bed bug pesticide have been reported in 7 U.S. States namely Florida, California, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Washington and Texas.  81% of the cases reported were not severe.  New York City, one of the densely populated cities in America, has the largest number of bed bug pesticide illness reported at 58% due to the increasing number of bed bug infestations in the big apple. 93% of the bed bug cases are in the American private homes, the report indicated. The agency said there is no reason for the public to get alarmed and get concerned about their health but express dismay that some bed bugs are becoming more resistant to some pesticides.
