Best Buy Offers Student Discounts For MacBooks

The price of two of the most popular thirteen-inch Apple MacBooks were discounted by Best Buy recently. The discount, which is equivalent to $200, is a part of an early back-to-school promo of the electronics retailer.

The price of the MacBook Pro with a 4GB RAM and 500GB hard disk was reduced by the electronics retailer to around $1,000 from its original price of around $1,200. On the other hand, the price tag of the MacBook Pro with an 8GB RAM and 750GB hard disk was reduced to around $1,300 from its original price of around$1,500.

The reduction in prices of the MacBooks follows the price reduction of the Surface RT tablet of Microsoft for universities and schools. The reduction of the Surface RT tablet is valid for two months over the summer. The Surface RT tablet of Microsoft can be purchased at prices as low as $199 under the program.

Additional discounts are also available for students who can register their .edu email address into the Student Deals site of Best Buy. Registering will give students another $100 worth of discounts on purchases for the duration of the promotion. The Best Buy promotion for the MacBooks will end on July 27.
