Billy Crystal Will Present Robin Williams’ Emmy Tribute

After Emmy organizers announced earlier this week that they will pay a touching tribute to the late Robin Williams they now followed up on adding that the "in-memoriam" section of the award ceremony will be hosted by Billy Crystal, a friend and former co-star of Robin’s.

This Monday’s tribute will mark Crystal’s first words on the passing of his good friend. The only response the actor had to the tragic news that Robin Williams committed suicide was a short tweet that simply said “no words.”

Producers of the award ceremony said that the choice was a no-brainer as the memorial moment needed a powerful and memorable presence, one that Billy Crystal will undoubtedly bring.

Mara Wilson, another one of Robin’s co-stars who worked opposite the late comedian in the hit 1993 movie “Mrs. Doubtfire” wrote a heartfelt blog post where she paid her tributes to the acting legend while also talking about some of her fondest memories from the set.

The actress talked about Williams’ amazing ingenuity and comedic mastery while on the set of “Mrs. Doubtfire." She said that director Chris Columbus would roll one or two takes based on the script and then let Williams do as many takes with his improvisations. She wondered why the movie didn't mention him as a partial writer as many of the funniest moments in the movie were improvised on the spot by  the comedian.
