Blackboard Announces New SaaS Offerings

An announcement from Blackboard revealed that the education technology company is set to release two new SaaS offerings aimed at providing added flexibility, customizations and better options in the deployment of the Learning Management System or LMS it is offering.

The options and service levels offered by the two new tiers of the SaaS offerings differentiate them from each other. The two offerings are the Blackboard Learn SaaS Plus and the Blackboard Learn SaaS Advantage. A number of benefits are offered to customers using Learn within a SaaS environment, including higher quality facilitated by the continuous deliver of standard bug fixes, zero-downtime upgrades, better scalability and new services innovation.

The company revealed that the Plus and the Advantage tiers provide organizations the ability to customize, configure and scale Learn to meet their individual requirements. These new SaaS tiers also provide better support for customized and commercial integration, added service tiers and a Flexible Deployment Option.

The Flexible Deployment Option provides schools the ability to control when enhancements are new features are deployed into their respective environments. Product management and marketing senior vice president at Blackboard Mark Strassman said the two new offerings can be considered as a big day for the customers of the company since it shows the latest step the company has taken to offer them with an LMS designed to meet their individual requirements.

Strassman added that the company is confident about the strength of SaaS as an essential component to ensure the future success of the customers of the company. He added that the new SaaS offerings allow customers to exercise more control and flexibility, which provides additional option on how they can attain their individual objectives while putting into practice suitable solutions for their respective companies.

Higher education institutions across the United States can take advantage of the SaaS Plus and the SaaS Advantage offerings of Blackboard. The company will also release additional information in the future on the availability of the two offerings in other markets.
