Bob Hoskins Passes Away At 71
Legendary British actor Bob Hoskins passed away this Tuesday at the age of 71. The actor is best known for his role in the 1988 movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” His career spanned several decades in which Hoskins naturally starred in major block busters and small independent production as well as some theater work.
The late actor passed away this Tuesday from pneumonia in a hospital while surrounded by friends and family. His wife and four children, Alex, Sarah, Rosa and Jack released a statement saying they are devastated after the loss of their “beloved Bob.”
The statement went on saying that Hoskins passed away peacefully in his sleep while being surrounded by his beloved friends and relatives. The family also asked that the media respect their privacy in this trying time also remembering to thank everyone for their messages of love and support.
Hoskins’ long career included some memorable roles such as opposite Helen Mirren in the cult classic “Super Mario Bros.,” as well as Mr. Smee in the Robin Williams classic movie “Hook.”
Hoskins was also nominated for an Academy Award in 1987 for his role in “Mona Lisa.” He announced he would retire from acting in 2012, after starring alongside Kristen Stewart in “Snow White and the Huntsman.” The reason behind his decision was his serious battle with Parkinson’s disease.
