Boston Celtics Force A Fifth Game With The New York Knicks

The Boston Celtics lived to play another day behind the heroics of Jason Terry in Game 4 of their best-of-7 playoff series with the New York Knicks.

Scoring the last nine points of Boston in overtime, he stopped a sweep by the Knicks at the TD Garden and forced a fifth game in their series. New York was able to come back from a 20-point deficit in second half to force the overtime period. However, this was all they could do as New York struggled with a 34.4 percent shooting percentage and dished out only ten assists.

Carmelo Anthony tried to carry the New York Knicks on his shoulders but he missed three of his four shots in overtime. He wanted to win the game for the Knicks. New York missed the services of J.R. Smith who was serving a one-game suspension for an infraction in Game 3 of their series against the Boston Celtics.

Boston saw Paul Pierce and Jeff Green scoring 29 points and 26 points, respectively. Kevin Garnett had 13 points on top of 17 rebounds for Boston. On the other hand, Terry scored 18 points in the game after he was elbowed by Smith in the previous game.

New York has not won a playoff series in the last 13 years, and they will continue to cop it at the Madison Square Garden, where Game 5 will be played.

The absence of Smith on the lineup of the Knicks was noticeable since he provides defenses clutch shots and defensive pressure on the Boston Celtics. Jason Kidd came off the bench in place of Smith with Quentin Richardson and Steve Novak as backups. However, they were not able to duplicate the scoring prowess of Smith as the bench of New York produced only seven points in the game.

As New York was plagued with turnovers and missed shots in the second quarter, Boston was able to take its first double-digit lead in the entire series.

However, Anthony said that the New York Knicks are looking forward to Game 5 of their series with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, which will be played at the home court of New York.
